We are a Contract Manufacturer

in Mexicali, Mexico.

What is Contract Manufacturing?

The term “contract manufacturer” is used to describe a business relationship in which one company (our customer) hires another company (us) to perform a manufacturing operation on their behalf.  This relationship is also known as “outsourced” production or manufacturing and is offered in many different configurations throughout the world.

What Products Do You Manufacture?

This is the most common follow up question after we tell someone that we are a contract manufacturer.  While the question is valid, as there are specific answers to the question at any given point in time, focusing on the products that we produce is most certainly not the best way to understand our capabilities.  It is very important to understand that we are in no way limited to manufacturing the same type of products that we are currently producing or have produced in the past.  Our business model is (and always has been) to setup a custom / dedicated manufacturing operation specific to our customer’s requirements. The easiest way by far to understand if we will be able to handle your contract manufacturing requirements is to simply speak with one of our Mexico manufacturing experts and discuss the details of your project.

How It Works with CaliBaja

        • The first step is for a potential customer to contact us to discuss the project.  It is generally a very quick process to determine the theoretical feasibility of the project.
          • If we can manufacture your product for you – we will. If we cannot – we will do our very best to point you in the right direction.
        • If the proposed project appears to be a good fit for all parties involved, site visits will be scheduled.
        • During / following the site visits the project will be discussed in detail and a formal decision will be made regarding the willingness of all parties to proceed.
        • The next step is to formalize the terms of the relationship in a contract.
        • Once a contract is in place production can begin.
        • **Please bear in mind that this is a very simplified overview of the process and is being provided as a general reference only.  Please contact us to discuss the specifics of your project.

Contract Manufacturer vs Shelter Company

When interviewing companies that will help you manufacture your product in Mexico, it is very important to fully understand their business model.

The overwhelming majority of businesses that will help you set up an operation in Mexico are “shelter” companies and if you really boil it down, have business models that are very similar to a standard real estate company. This is something to be wary of due to the fact that all they are concerned with is filling up their vacant space – not the success of your operation!

CaliBaja differs in this respect as our business model (contract manufacturing) is based on the success of your operation. If your operation does not succeed in Mexico – we do not get paid. As you can probably easily imagine, the seemingly simple shift from selling space (our competition / shelter companies) to selling a high-quality product (contract manufacturing) drastically alters the level of service that the customer receives after the contract is signed.

Contract Manufacturing vs Manufacturing Brokers

In addition to shelter companies, another option for accessing manufacturing resources in Mexico is through a manufacturing broker.  Manufacturing brokers act as middlemen between the actual manufacturer and the company purchasing the products (you). With CaliBaja Manufacturing, you work directly with the manufacturer and escape the costly ‘broker tax’ – CaliBaja is not a broker of anyone else’s services.

We manufacture 100% of our customer’s products completely in-house. Therefore, when dealing with CaliBaja, you are dealing directly with the company who is making your product.

While Mexico manufacturing brokers do provide a service, in many cases they are little more than middlemen. Why work with a middle man when you can go directly to the source?
